Built in 1850 by Territorial Legislator, Daniel R. Bigelow, the Bigelow House Museum is the oldest home in Olympia, as well as one of the oldest in the entire state. Although the home was built in an area still predominantly wild, the home has many features of traditional Victorian homes found on the east coast during the time, including carved gables and a cozy covered front porch. Owned by the family for over 140 years, the museum contains a startling array of Victorian furnishings and family photographs. The historic residence is located just north of downtown, near the waterfront and Bigelow Park.
